So, what do the experts say?

According to London, eggs are an easy-to-eat source of protein that you can eat when having an upset stomach and is a better alternative than other high-fat protein sources.

In fact, eggs are one of the foods that London recommends eating when having an upset stomach.

Protein sources with a high amount of fat, such as processed meat and fried foods, can trigger reflux, especially if you eat them in large amounts late at night.

When you want to prepare a simple egg dish for light dinner, London recommends scrambling the eggs with a drizzle of butter or cooking oil.

In an article published in Women’s Health Magazine, Samantha Nazareth, a gastroenterologist and gut health expert from New York City, also recommends eggs as one of the easy-to-digest food options.

She recommends eating hard-boiled eggs as you only need water to cook them thoroughly.

But if you hate eating hard-boiled eggs, you can have scrambled eggs as long as you use only a small amount of butter.

Instead of using butter or cream, you can consider adding low-fat milk when scrambling eggs, especially if you have a hard time tolerating animal fats.

Another nutrition expert, Valerie Goldberg, a registered dietitian and founder of No Diet Dietitian, also suggests eggs as one of the best foods to eat for an upset stomach as they comprise of all the essential amino acids that your muscle absorbs.

Unlike London and Nazareth, Goldberg does not suggest any specific type of method in preparing the eggs.

You can cook them in whatever way you want.

However, since you may not have an impeccable immune system, you need to make sure that you cook your yolks thoroughly.

Regardless of how you want to cook your eggs, be it poached, scrambled, or boiled, you need to ensure that your eggs are fully cooked since raw eggs may cause salmonella infection, which causes over 400 deaths in the US each year.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends staying away from raw or lightly-cooked eggs and eggs with runny yolks or whites to prevent the risk of salmonella poisoning.

They also advised purchasing only pasteurized eggs and egg-based products.
